Kashmir: Wedding
For us the wedding began the evening before when we visited to see the cooking of the 38 slaughtered sheep and food being prepared by a wazah for the following day's festivities. During the actual day of the wedding, the men stayed downstairs and the women up. They ate in small clusters of four, being served on one large communal platter that food was lathered onto by the cooks. Later in the evening, the entire party travelled to the bride's house for another ritual before returning for the welcoming of the bride. |
